#6: Johnny Paine

Johnny “Psycho” Paine (sometimes called “Pitbull” Paine) was trained by “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer, a controversial figure in the history of pro wrestling. Paul Ponte talks with Paine about what it was like to train with Buzz Sawyer, working snug/stiff, blowing chances with WCW/WWF, and a plethora of stories involving some of the biggest names in wrestling.

We also talk about working for the NWC (National Wrestling Conference), a short-lived promotion based in Las Vegas in the ‘90s. Featuring wrestlers such as Iron Sheik, Vader, the Road Warriors, Sabu, RVD, Virgil, and many more… Paine’s stories are too much for one episode, but we try to fit in as much as we can.
